Players compete during the Margaritaville USA Pickleball National Championships Presented by Pickleball Central at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2021.
Following Tuesday’s incredible day of Senior Pro Men’s Singles and Senior Pro Women’s Doubles, Wednesday’s events featured Senior Pro Women’s Singles and Senior Pro Men’s Doubles.
Senior Pro Jennifer Dawson went undefeated on the day by defeating Julie Johnson (11-3, 11-3) in the Gold Medal match this afternoon at the Margaritaville USA Pickleball National Championships presented by Pickleball Central. It was all Dawson in game number one as she used that strong two handed backhand to fight of Johnson. In game two Johnson came out strong and changed up her game plan by trying to get to Dawson’s forehand but in the end, it was just too much Dawson! Julie Johnson takes home the Silver Medal and taking home the Bronze Medal was Cammy MacGregor. Tune in tomorrow as Dawson tries to complete the Triple Crown by taking home gold with partner Dayne Gingrich in Mixed Doubles Senior Pro.
In the Men’s Doubles Senior Pro Match, Dave Weinbach and Dayne Gingrich competed against Kevin Booth and John Sterling for gold. Booth and Sterling winning the first match 11-8 and Weinbach and Gingrich answer with an 11-7 win in the second. Moving on to match three as fans anticipated who would come out with the gold. Weinbach shocked Booth and Sterling with a behind-the-back shot, followed later in the match by an around-the-post finisher. In the end, Weinbach and Gingrich reigned as Championship Title winners finishing the third match 11-2. Moore and Scott Crandall took home bronze.
The amateur events of the day included Women’s Skill/Age Singles, 50+, 55+, 60+ and Men’s Skill/Age Doubles 50+, 55+, 60+. All daily brackets and event results are available from the Event website main menu.

Thursday the Pros take the stage and will feature Pro Women’s Singles, Pro Men’s Singles and Senior Pro Mixed Doubles 50+. Pros Anna Leigh Waters, Irina Tereschenko, Tyson McGuffin, JW Johnson and Zane Navratil are anticipated players to watch on Championship Court. Tyson McGuffin won Silver in 2019 against Ben Johns.
